Virginia Citizen-Soldier Support Council


On June 5, 2006, Governor Kaine officially signed Executive Order 18, establishing the Virginia Citizen-Soldier Support Council.

The Virginia Citizen-Soldier Support Council, which was created under the Warner Administration, was established to develop recommendations for raising and sustaining public awareness of the contributions made by personnel (and their families) in the following Virginia branches of the armed forces:

  • Army and Air National Guard
  • Army Reserve
  • Navy Reserve
  • Marine Corps Reserve
  • Air Force Reserve
  • Coast Guard Reserve

Mission and Goals

The Council is working to engage the awareness, involvement and cooperation of the following Virginia entities in support of reserve component personnel and their families:

  • the business community
  • state agencies
  • non-government agencies and organizations
  • local governments
  • major financial institutions such as banks, insurance companies and investment firms
  • general health and mental health care providers
  • the Virginia State Bar
  • the Virginia Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Committee
  • the Virginia Chambers of Commerce.
